Hi all! It's already day 3 on Straight Grain's Hanami testers tour. And I'm really glad to show you my version today. I'm not used to write in English, but I'll give it a go!
As we all could see the past few days, An's Hanami is a wonderfull, very versatile pattern. There are plenty of options: top or dress, regular or tulip flutter sleeves, zipperd back or crossed back, and with or without peter pan collar.
I decided to go for the tulip flutter sleeves (love them!) and the crossed back option. And since my girl is not into dresses for the moment, I made the top.
I love the flounce, together with the tulip sleeves, it makes a very sweet and girly top. And that asked for a sweet and girly fabric. I bought this loosely woven (gauze-like) cotton at a homesale. It was lying in a basket with 'leftovers'. When unwrapping the packet I discoverd that it weren't leftovers, but all the pieces to sew a dress. Buttonholes included! Not my size or style, but there was more than enough fabric for this Hanami.
The fabric contains a lot of colours, but from a distance, they all blend into a soft, delicate pink. I usually dress my girl in bright colours, but this also works really well for her, I think...
Ready for some more pictures? Janne proudly presents: the Hanami top!
Hanami means 'the art of watching flowers'. So I used some flower-buttons.
I just love the crossed back!
Thank's An, for giving me the chance to test this lovely pattern! I really enjoyed it, and will certainly make more versions.
Looking forward to seeing all the other testers Hanami's!
Do you also want to make the Hanami top or dress? You can buy the pattern over here. Highly recommended!
With love,
Leentje
